Volunteer

There are many dogs and cats on the streets in Chiang Mai who are desperately in need of help. Our volunteers are essential in looking after the animals and making them ready for forever homes. Working in 5 different locations around the city, we need volunteers who are willing to give up one evening a week to help make a difference.

The primary role of our volunteers is to socialise the animals. Through play and touch you will teach them to be comfortable around people. Almost all of our animals are street dogs who have never had a home. In order to be adopted, they need to feel comfortable around people. Socialization is especially important for animals that have been abused, in order for them to learn to trust humans again. We strongly encourage volunteers to work with us for at least a few weeks. In this time, our volunteers are able to build close bonds with the animals, and the animals learn to trust people.

What to expect:

We ask for a regular commitment of at least 1 month. You will be asked to visit the animals one evening a week, or as much or as little as you can manage.  On your visit, you will feed the animals and make sure that they have water. You will give any ill animals their medication and check all of them for any injuries or ailments. You can stay and play with the animals for as long as you like. The more you socialise them,  the quicker they will be ready for adoption to forever homes.

We are also keen to hear from people who have a car and would be willing to take animals on vet trips, as well as people who want to work in fundraising, advocacy, education, administrative support, special events, volunteer coordination, fostering and so much more.
